Why the world needs more women leaders, and how it’s time we drop labels like ‘girl boss’
In today’s world, terms like ‘girl boss’ are thrown around as an empowering term for women. But why do we have to be a girl boss? Why not just a boss? After almost 30 years of being a ‘girl boss’, Helen Ashton is still unsure what stereotype of a female leader she fits into. From being the former CFO of ASOS Plc, a current NED and Chair of the Audit Committee at JD Sports Plc and starting her own consultancy business, Helen has spent the majority of her career as a social and professional deviant: a female leader. In this talk, Helen reflects on the challenges women face in the workplace, how to turn those into opportunities, and why now is exactly the right time for women leaders to have their moment.
